PROJECTS

Tariff Building – Hotel Monaco
700 F St NW, Washington, DC 20004
GC: Potomac Construction Services Inc.
Architect: Stanton Architecture
Completion Date: December 2016.
Scope: 2,000 square feet of electrochromic / smart glass that has the capability to tint as needed. Glass tint changes electronically with real-time inputs such as weather, location, and cloud cover or just user preference. The outcome is to manage daylighting, glare, energy use and color rendition throughout the day.
The glass on this project is structurally silicone held on all four sides into a custom aluminum frame design and fabricated by Innovo, where what you see on the exterior is only glass. Wiring runs, unseen, from the glass and through the glass joints and aluminum frame into a control room where a computer is set up to run the software.
This glass units are set independently of each other’s and align within 1/16” tolerance to ensure reflection on the façade has no distortions.
